What is TELEMEDICINE?

  • Telemedicine, or telehealth, is a means of audio-visual “virtual” communication where the patient is not in the same room as the physician. You can visit with the physician from the comfort and safety of your home.

How does TELEMEDICINE work?

  • The patient and the doctor will communicate through either the computer, tablet or phone with our online telemedicine platform through doxy.me. It is important to note that this is not just a phone call but will also include a visual component as well.
  • When you make your appointment, our staff will explain the process and confirm your preferred means of contact, either mobile phone/text or email. The day before your appointment, you will receive a link through your preferred means of contact with paperwork you will need to complete the day before. This paperwork needs to be completed regardless of whether you are a new or existing patient. This consent for telemedicine along with other pertinent information will need to be completed for our physician to see you. The day of the appointment, you will receive a phone call from our staff to gather any remaining information the doctor may need to properly complete your appointment.

Tips for a successful telemedicine call:

  • Please remember that the patient must be present on the call for the appointment. If this is a child, a parent or guardian should be there as well.  Appointments cannot be completed without the actual patient present.
  • If using your computer or tablet for the call make sure you have Google Chrome or Firefox installed on your device. Doxy.me will only work on those browsers.
  • Your device will need to have a camera and microphone enabled. When logging onto the call Doxy.me will ask to use your devices camera. Select yes to share your camera. If none of our devices have a camera, please let our staff know when making the appointment.
  • Make sure you are in a quiet space.
  • Make sure you sign on for your appointment at least 20 minutes prior so we can ensure you are ready to see the doctor at your scheduled appointment time.  Remember this is very similar to an in-office appointment in which the doctor is seeing other patients. In order to keep appointments on time, each patient must be available during their scheduled time.

Dear USVI Community --

As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact here at home, please know that the whole team at Virgin Islands Ear, Nose & Throat, St. Thomas Sleep Center and Virgin Islands Sleep Center is concerned about your continued well-being. We remain open to answer phone calls and respond to emergencies but in order to protect the health and safety of our community, our staff, our patients and their families, we are immediately implementing the following:

  • If you feel sick, have respiratory illness or fever, cough or difficulty breathing, do not come to the office or go to the ER. If you are symptomatic, please call the Department of Health COVID hotline at (340) 776-1519 St. Thomas/St. John and (340) 712-6299 St. Croix.
  • Elective check-ups, elective surgeries, follow-ups and routine visits should be rescheduled. Ask yourself this simple question. Will postponing a minimum of 30 days cause a negative medical result? If the answer is “no” then please call us to cancel. Now.
  • We will only allow the patient into the office and waiting rooms. No additional family members (except 1 parent or guardian for minors) will be allowed. Others must wait in the car. If you have a question about this, please call first.
  • We strongly encourage any patient over 60 years old to reschedule their appointment.
  • No walk-ins, please!

We are closely coordinating with VI healthcare authorities and we will soon be issuing guidance for our telemedicine services for new and existing patients that will allow patients access to our physicians from the safety of your home.

We appreciate your flexibility and patience during this global health crisis. Please contact our office with any questions you may have by calling 340-774-8881 (STT/STJ) or 340-773-8801 or email us This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
